Time flies...

Wow, time really does fly whether you want it to or not.

Hello to everyone still hanging on and I see I've even gained a few new followers in my long absence.  I never had any intention to stop blogging, but with surgery recovery became a new focus and blogging got less and less important.  Then, of course, sewing did too, and with no progress, there's not much to blog about.  :)

And then I just got out of the habit of coming to this space to talk with you all...

But I'm back.  I took the time today to sit down and write.  To say hello.  To assure everyone that doesn't follow me on instagram that I am alright.  I am mostly healed from my surgery and have been given the "ok" to resume normal life.  Exercise is still SLOW GOING and it's frustrating, but I do not wake up with back pain every morning.  I can stand for hours without my back aching and in turn my legs and feet.  I feel like a new woman--an out of shape woman, but still.  :)

We've been busy since I last posted.  There's been LOTS of softball and lots of karate.  There's been many hours spent driving back and forth between the two.  There's been hours of PTO stuff--book fair, coffee bars, testing fun days...  There's been proud Mama moments of field days, awards ceremonies, district softball wins, karate accomplishments.  There's been summer schedule adjustments with more swimming and less packing of lunches.

Like I said, we've been busy.

But I want to be busy here as well, with y'all.  So to thank you for sticking around, I want to give something away.  How's an etsy gift card sound?  That way, whatever it is that strikes your fancy can be yours and we're not limited to fabric or yarn or whatever else...

Just leave a comment here telling me what you're up to this summer and I'll randomly draw a winner this weekend.  Em's in the state tournament this weekend, so it'll probably be Sunday before I draw and Monday before I announce.  That's almost a week to get entered.  :)

  1. Glad you are getting better!!! I don't have any exciting summer plans besides celebrating my little ones first bday. If I take a vacation it will be a staycation and hopefully I will get to sew.

  2. We started our summer a bit early with a month long cruise to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We cruised from Los Angeles to Copenhagen, had a brief stay there, then flow to NYC for a longer stay, before coming home. It was our longest trip, ever. The next day, we adopted two dogs from the local animal shelter, our life is very busy. I'm so glad you're better and busy with your family. Looking forward to your future posts.

  4. Watching and extra grand child 18 months keeps me on my feet, she just home to her other Grandparents. So, I just started sewing again! I just need to pick a place and get started! Thank you!

  6. I'm happy that you are feeling better! Hopefully you can find more and more time to sew! We just got back from a big trip to disneyworld, and I think we'll keep the rest of the summer nice and simple. Swimming, camping, and visiting grandparents is about all we've got planned.

  7. I'm so glad you're on the mend! This summer I'm hoping to enjoy my newly designed garden (I may even get the last of the plants out of pots and into the ground/raised beds!) and do lots of hand sewing while watching the bees gathering nectar!

  8. Good to hear you're back up and at 'em! And busy as ever with the kids, sounds like. We've been pretty laid back so far. The school garden is continuing Garden Club through the summer, so we do that on Wednesdays. And our farmer's market is open again on Sundays, so that's another weekly outing. But other than that, a whole lotta hangin' out in the yard. :)

  9. Glad to hear your on the mend! This summer we are going to Myrtle for a week. We also have memberships to the science center, children's museum, zoo and the national aviary so we will not lack for places to go when its so hot you don't even want to go swimming!

  11. This summer I've been working on organizing my scraps. (My summer started early with son's graduation on May 16.) I've cut them into standard sizes and want to use them for a half-square triangle scrappy quilt. I found some orphaned blocks and am putting them together into a quilt I'll probably donate to charity. It's been a fun summer so far!

  13. Good to hear from you again. I know I'm too late for the give away but thought I'd drop in and say hi. Sounds like you have as much on as I do with kids activities. We're spending these two weeks of winter break cleaning out and packing up our house. Settlement got delayed unfortunately, so the house isn't ours til end of the month, but holidays is a good chance to get stuck in to it.
